InkGreen

InkGreen seeks to address the issue of ink waste from the improper disposal and lack of accessible recycling on campus.  The exterior plastic of ink cartridges can take 500 to 1000 Years to fully decompose, and a single cartridge emits 3.2KG of CO2 for 5,000 pages produced. The harmful effects that an improperly discarded ink cartridge can have on our environment have seen a drastic increase in recent years due to the rise in printing services on college campuses and areas around them. Up to 60% of a typical inkjet cartridge can be wasted when printers ask users to throw away cartridges. InkGreen seeks to address this issue of lack of accessible recycling for cartridges on campus by turning ink into viable products for a variety of customers to use. In partnering with our local libraries and buildings on campus, we hope to turn old ink cartridges that would be poisoning landfills around into fun and sustainable products for our community
